This deciduous, spreading shrub with decorative, 3- or 5-lobed, mid-green leaves is best grown as against a south or south-west facing wall. In long, hot summers it will produce an abundant crop of brown, pear-shaped fruit with red flesh. These are rich and sweet and available for picking from August to September.
