Bio Boltac Greasebands
These Bio Boltac Greasebands offer an organic method of deterring pests, especially winter moth caterpillars from your fruit trees. The biggest threat to fruit trees is the flightless female winter moth, which emerges from the soil in autumn, making her way to the top of the tree to mate. She stays in the tree over winter, laying her eggs in spring. It is these young caterpillar that destroy your next fruit harvest, by feeding on the young leaves and fruit.Bio Boltac Greasebands should be placed at least 45cm from groundlevel around the tree trunk, with the sticky side facing outwards, by late October, before the adult moths begin to emerge in November. It is important that the bands are fitted tightly around the trunk, as bands which are not fitted correctly create channels allowing other small insects to crawl up the tree. It is a good idea to keep the bands in plant until April. Check them on a regular basis to make sure nothing is sticking to them, such as leaves.Bio Boltac Greasebands come as two bands stuck together which need to be separated before use. |
